Dear Diary,
Day 6 in the wild and I think I’m becoming a cryptid. If someone spots me at the edge of the campsite, I’ll probably just throw a soap sample at them and disappear into the trees.
Highlights from today’s survival tactics:
🪵 Made “forest soap” by mixing rainwater, pine needles, and my last bar of oatmeal milk & honey. It smells like breakfast in a lumber yard.
🐇 Tried to befriend a bunny. He ran away. Left me a single tuft of fur. I’m calling it a trade.
🔥 Cooked pancakes over the campfire. Dropped one. Ate it anyway. I am unstoppable.
🐿️ The squirrel (Steve) is now following me everywhere. He tried to stash an acorn in my beard balm tin. Respect.
🛶 Made a tiny raft out of soap scraps and sent it down the creek with a note that says “Send Snacks.”
Tonight I’m sleeping in the hammock again. If the raccoons come back, I’ll just invite them to the marshmallow roast.
Wild, weird, and wonderfully sudsy,
Melinda
